Overview: Upper East Side Elegance – Within Reason
A mid-sized building on the Upper East Side, 300 East Seventy Nine has the modern, all-glass façade typical of many of today’s new condos and an elegant but welcoming lobby designed by Jack Levy Design. Apartments range from small one-bedrooms to huge penthouses, all of which have walnut floors and nice architectural details.

With multimedia outlets in every room and optional home-automation technology, you can live a 21st-century lifestyle in gracious surroundings. Kitchens feature marble countertops and backsplash, Sub-Zero refrigerators, Wolf ranges, and Bosch dishwashers. Bathrooms offer yet more marble (someone must have gotten a good deal on marble) and equally high-end fixtures.

The building’s amenities include an entertainment suite for hosting large parties, a landscaped terrace with outdoor fireplace, a fitness center, and a children’s playroom. A bicycle storage room and a refrigerated storage room (for the Fresh Direct packages that arrive home before you do) are also available.

Raves & Faves

- The location is convenient.
- The amenities are modest, not overdone, and they’re moderately priced. Some amenities are optional – for example, the “virtual concierge” who will book your travel arrangements, summon your personal trainer, make sure your dogs get their daily outing, and make your restaurant reservations – so that residents who don’t want these services aren’t obliged to pay for them, but those who do, can get them easily.

Not So Hot
- Materials and workmanship are not quite as high-end as they are at buildings such as the Lucida.
- Kitchen sinks are a bit small.
- Closet space is skimpy.
- There is a lack of mid-sized units. We only saw one unit between 1360 and 2100 square feet.

Units: Layout, Pricing and Availability
Apartments currently on the market include:
- One-bedroom apartments (649 – 814 square feet): $.95 million – $1.2 million
- Two-bedroom apartments (917 – 1364 square feet): $.98 million – $2.1 million
- Three-bedroom apartments (1663 – 2465 square feet): $2.8 million – $5.9 million
- Four-bedroom apartments (2664 square feet): $4.8 million
There are also several very large apartments that have been formed by combining two or three adjacent units.

Rooms are well scaled to the size of the apartments, and the layouts make sense. Most apartments have a foyer or gallery, which makes for a more graceful entrance than suddenly finding oneself in the midst of a room.
